LoginAfter nearly a decade of negative rates, fixed income is once again a topic of discussion among Finns. Particularly over the last year, it has been attractive to investors. Currently, we can even talk about the golden age of fixed income investing, with interest rates being at very attractive levels.
Evli, which was awarded as Finland's best fund house* in March, is launching Finland's first podcast dedicated to fixed income investing. The podcast, called “Kaikki koroista”, ie. All about fixed income, will delve deeply into fixed income investing without using industry jargon. The podcast will take the listener on a learning journey, starting with the basics of what interest rates and fixed income investing are. It will then dive deeper into how to build a fixed income portfolio and what roles central banks, inflation and other market factors play.
Kim Pessala, CEO of Evli Fund Management Company, believes the podcast will fill a gap in the investment discussion:
"There hasn't been a podcast in Finland solely focused on fixed income, so the need for it is evident. Few know, for example, that the European high yield index has outperformed the European STOXX 600 equity index by more than one percentage point per year over the past 24 years. As Finland's most experienced fixed income house, we want to share our expertise and provide information on fixed income investing to those who are looking for opportunities to lower risk and higher returns."
The podcast will be hosted by Jalmari Karvinen, a media entrepreneur and YouTuber who is enthusiastic about investing. Throughout the spring, he will be joined by experts and well-known investors as guests.
"I've been interested in investing for a long time and although I have five years of business school behind me, I don't know much about fixed income, so I was immediately excited to do this podcast together with Evli. Additionally, having only invested in a negative rate environment, fixed income investing has never seemed as attractive as it does now. This spring I look forward to learning more about fixed income and I want to take the listeners with me on the same journey," Karvinen states.
In the podcast's first episode, the basics of interest rates and fixed income investing are introduced. The episode also discusses why it’s time to get interested in fixed income investing. The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcast and YouTube. Episodes are released on Wednesdays.
* Morningstar, a fund research firm, has awarded Evli as Finland's best fund house in the annual Morningstar Awards 6.3.2024. This is the second consecutive win for Evli.
