Evli Academy

The entire staff go back to school.

Evli is an expert organization in which staff development must be actively promoted. Although practical experience gained through work supports employee development, the information they have acquired in school is often hopelessly outdated. Therefore, the Evli Academy internal training program was set up to address the need of Evli employees to update their specialist knowledge.

The Evli Academy is carried out in co-operation with Hanken (Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration) & IFL Corporate Development, which provides development programs for management. The lecturers are invariably leading names in the financial sector, and the training programs are directly linked to Evli's day-to-day operations and objectives.

Three key areas for Evli's success in which staff competence plays an important role have been chosen as the subjects of the Academy's training programs. These are the financial markets, leadership and teamwork, and customer relationship management. The Academy has three training levels: professionals (experts), challengers (intermediate management and special experts) and leaders (executives and top management). The people are selected into the programs on the basis of their jobs and responsibilities. As the jobs and responsibilities change, the person has the opportunity to continue studying at a more demanding level.

Promoting one of Evli's values – continuous learning

To be a leader requires continuous learning and updating of knowledge. Through the Academy, the staff can exchange opinions and views while putting one of the Academy's objectives into practice, i.e. learning from one another. Sharing expertise and exchanging experiences are great ways to gain new knowledge.

The Academy also aims to set the framework for and ensure close networking between Evli staff. The groups in the training are selected in such a way that as many groups as possible contain people from different units and different countries. This enables opinions to be exchanged across business units and country borders and, most importantly, it enables people to meet each other.

"The Academy is an important meeting place where Evli employees can get to know each other and learn key aspects of business development," says Johanna Lamminen, Director of Human Resources, who is responsible for the Evli Academy. During the first year, over 140 Evli employees took part in the Academy.
